Kate Moss: long story short

Katherine Ann Moss a.k.a Kate Moss was born in London, on January 16th 1974. She was discovered when she was 14 on an airport (J.F.Kennedy International Airport). Her first photoshoot, “The Third Summer of Love”, was done for magazine “The Face”. She was 15.

Unlike the models of the moment, she was tiny and thin, that’s the reason why she came to be known by many as the anti-model.

Despite the controversial, her success put her at the same level of the most biggest supermodels of the 80’s decade: Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Christy Torlington and Linda Evangelista.

She was on the 1st issue of the Russian Vogue, was the face of Chanel’s parfum Coco Mademoiselle and Yves Saint Laurent’s Opium, she received the “Fashion Personality of the Year” award (1995) and was considered “The world’s greatest supermodel” by the fashion industry.

In 2005 a great scandal about her allegedly being a cocaine adicted slightly declined her popularity. Daily Mirror even ran a cover and inside photos with the model snorting lines of a white powder, which was presumed to be cocaine. The event cost her the termination of modelling contracts with brands like H&M, Burberrys and Chanel. Probably one of the little support she received came from the designer Alexander McQueen, which wore a t-shirt  saying “We love you Kate” after a fashion show and even put a large hologram with the face of the model as the background of one of his shows.

Fortunately, she recovered from the scandal and addiction and she is still one of the biggest fashion icons nowadays. Along with Sienna Miller, she was considered one of the biggest influences for the rising of the boho-chic style. Lately we’ve seen her being cover of Love magazine, launching a handbag collection along with Longchamp and nude for Vogue Hommes International.
