Sequin Gown – The END

Sequin Gown has come to an end.

When I first created the blog, it was my most serious project for a whole year. Throughout these 3 years, this was the place where I shared my yet little knowledge and my many opinions about fashion.

This blog opened the door I needed for the fashion company I still proudly work for, and the window for a world that will always fascinate me. A world that allowed me to know many people I pretend to keep in the my life, in the future.

Unfortunately, time flies and I like to do the things I do well. It is and it has always been unthinkable for me to post because of numbers or obligation: because I haven’t been posting for several days and I can’t make my readers wait. Because you need to write or else, people will forget about you. If I don’t have relevant things to write, if I don’t have time to do things right, then I simply don’t do. I’ve always been like this and this is how I intend to continue.

Adulthood, having a job who keeps you busy for more than 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, having an active social life, leaving fashion, instead of simply writing about it… everything ends up becoming an obstacle to the blog.

This was not an easy decision. Lots of times, I’ve sat to start typing this post, but I ended up writing about other things, promising myself I would be able to keep the level I wanted to establish for the blog. 646 posts after, I feel like, one way or another, I stick to what I wanted from the beginning: spread the word and share my thoughts.

This blog will always be an important part of my history in fashion. I will keep following the pad I drew when I wrote its first line and I hope to give it a new direction very soon.

To those of you who have been following me for more than 3 years, my most sincere THANK YOU. It was a pleasure to write for you.

I’ll see you soon!

Sempre fui assim e pretendo manter-me neste registo.

Happy birthday to you!

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester and the designer Marc Jacobs are both celebrating their birthday today.

Leighton’s outfits on the teenage TV series are lovely and she’s an “it-girl” in the real world too, Marc Jacobs is one of the greatest designers of all time, so they do have reasons to party.

Below, a picture from the two together and Leighton wearing Marc Jacobs garments.

Oh Céline: Phoebe Philo’s influence on handbags

Those of you, who are more attentive may have already noticed something that “The Business of Fashion” has brought to my attention once again today: have you noticed the number of “lugagge” inspired bags that showed up on the market the past few months? The modern design of the bag was loved ever since the first time it showed up on the catwalk and other designers could help but to recreate and invent new styles very similar to this one. Thumbs up, Phoebe Philo!

What do your eyes have to say?

I don’t do beauty posts very often and I’m terrible doing my own make up, but I really liked this picture, the first time I saw it. Want to recreate the most seen looks (literally) on the catwalk, this is the perfect tutorial.

Let them know it’s Christmas

Image

One of my New Year’s resolutions is definitely having more time to blog in 2013! I know I have been away for a while and I haven’t posted anything really interesting in the past few days. The blog is important to me and I feel like I’m abandoning a child when I spend weeks without publishing something. Promise this will not happen in 2013.

For now, just thought I should share this set with you with. If I could choose a very expensive outfit for Christmas, it would definitely be one of these three. I’m in love with the black and green MSGM dress and purple lipsticks and I still in love with gold tone sequins. Definitely my must-have item this year!

What will you be wearing this Christmas?

Ex-Catalogue

I am glad and proud to introduce my new project: Ex-Catalogue. A few months ago, one of my colleagues has contacted me to help him finding an idea that would allow him to sell some beautiful pieces from previous collections he had in stock that were not sold in a physical store. Since I don’t like to have less to do, I said yes immediately and this is the new blog we have created.

He’s been photographing the clothes, I’ve been doing the descriptions and helping him with the blog and the Facebook page. I suggest you all to take a look as I’m sure you will probably find something you like – I did, at least! 😉

This is the BLOG and this is the FACEBOOK page, please like and share!

Apologies and updates

I know I’ve been away for a while, but I promise I will make it up. For now, since the time is still running, here are some personal pictures taken these past few weeks.

I will be back soon with a very exquisite new! 😉

Portugal Fashion Spring/Summer 2013

And so another Portugal Fashion SS’12 has started.

In a different room and with the presentation of 3 collections, the night was marked by the rain and a slow  pace in an organization that should be perfect, at this point.

Luckily the exterior and interior design, created by the agency Soochy and the Resort collection by Luís Buchinho saved the night.

Story Tailors:

The show at Story Tailors could have been better if it was only for the initial designs, with nice cutouts and the mix of fabrics (first two pictures). The main problem was when the dresses started looking like they were made of pinafore fabrics, whether in red or blue. The fabrics started to look cheap even when they were lace, the silhouettes were a bit messy and the clothes stopped making sense. Probably the worst show I saw from the two designers, I truly hope they can find their original magic in the future.

Anabela Baldaque:

I liked this show, because it was an heterogeneous collection. Bright colors for summer, a selection of sparkling items very well designed, patterned pieces, fluid maxi dresses, some of them with colorful backgrounds others with white, jumpsuits, some inspiration from Prada and Vuitton and one or two black dresses.

Definitely the best collection! Very well tailored trousers and jackets, very very feminine with lots of pastel shades and the cuter shorts and skirts I’ve ever seen, designed by a Portuguese creator.

You could tell the pieces had a great quality just by looking at them, the back of the tops were great and the dresses were very sexy.
